Unilateral incomplete bifid ureter: A Case report

Abstract

The ureters are narrow thick-walled muscular tubes which connect kidneys to the bladder. The urine is propelled from the kidney to the urinary bladder by the peristaltic contractions of the wall of the ureter. Congenital ureter anomalies such as double ureters are uncommon developmental anomalies of the renal system. Its incidence varies from 0.8% for unilateral and 0.125% for bilateral ureter. However, incomplete duplications are three times more common. In Human Anatomy laboratory of Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Hospital, Jaipur during routine dissection for First MBBS students Right incomplete ureteral duplication in adult female cadaver was reported. The case was discussed with its possible clinical implications.
