Abstract
Abstract. The article discusses the role and importance of portraiture in the novel, its scientific functions. A scientific analysis of the nature, peculiarities, types, and function of portraiture in poetics is made. Samples of portraits in the novels of K. Matmuratov and K. Karimov in Karakalpak novels are considered.
