The goal of treatment is to accomplish anatomic fracture union, regain hand function quickly, and avoid complications. Healing fractures require limited space, stability, and blood supply. The locking plate lowers compressive pressures on the bone to achieve stability, which may prevent periosteal compression and blood supply degradation. It is favoured for fracture healing.
