Study of Stomach Mucosa Findings Noticeable To Naked Eye in Poisoning Deaths

Abstract

Background:Poisoning, environmental, accidental, in the form of suicidal consumption and due to pesticides is a major contributor to morbidity and mortality rates in a great number of countries throughout the world. The primary objective of this study was to investigate the stomach mucosa findings noticeable to naked eye and with the help of hand lens, in cases of lethal poisoning. Material and Methods: This particular study analysed data from 44 randomly selected cases of fatal poisoning including people of both sexes. The stomach was dissected and and examined during autopsy. After doing a gross examination of the stomach, some findings were observed. These included mucosa gross appearance-findings such as paleness, congestion, bleeding, and erosion, flattening of the rugae, oedema, and colour changes
