Abstract

1. INTRODUCTION Redox Biology is an integral component of Exercise Physiology. This branch deals with the various changes occurring inside the muscles at the molecular level during workouts. (1) The responses of the body towards the physical stress and adaptations brought inside the muscles due to exercises are well explained by the redox concept. Literature Review Most often, damages made to skeletal muscle mass, bones and tissues are always discussed but changes occurring inside the muscles at the molecular level which are a part of body’s own mechanisms are often ignored. There are certainly some molecular mechanisms occurring inside the human body which control the muscle response towards various kinds of exercises. According to redox concept, exercises may be classified into two types: Muscle damaging exercises and Non- muscle damaging exercises. (2) Muscle damaging exercises are capable of bringing variations in the homeostatic mechanism of the muscle for several days after the exercise has been concluded and is difficult to recover. Non - muscle damaging exercises bring variations in the homeostatic mechanism of the muscle for several hours post exercise and it recovers easily on its own. (3)
