Prevalence and associated risk factors of dry eye disease at a tertiary hospital

Abstract

Dry eye disease (DED) is a common ocular surface disorder that is now days considered as a public health problem due to its impact on vision-related quality of life of the affected subjects.According to the recent official report of the International Dry Eye Workshop (DEWS 2017), that based on summary of the findings of current research, DED was defined as “a multifactorial disease of the tears and ocular surface that is associated with hyperosmolarity of tear film which in turn leads to inflammation and damage of the ocular surface that accompanied with ocular symptoms of discomfort, fatigue and disturbance in visioin”
