ABSTRACT Introduction: Road traffic accidents are reported to be the major aetiology of concern across the world. It stands the third most common reason for the leading cause of death in many developed countries. This study majorly discusses the pattern of injury that was observed in fatal road traffic accidents. Materials and Methodology: The study was carried out enclosing102 cases of fatal road traffic accidents. All the dead bodies that were brought to the mortuary of the forensic medicine department were obtained detailed analysis about the medical records and the autopsy reports evaluation. Results: The study participants in this study showed profound male predominance of 74.5%. Among the demographic details, when considering the educational status, victims were recorded to be the highest in those who were uneducated followed by those who studied high schooling. Dependent individuals (26.15%) followed by business individuals (19.22%) were observed to be the highest number of victims considering the occupational status. Conclusion: The establishment of a nationwide computerised trauma registry to highlight risk factors, circumstances, sequential events that potentially lead to the accidents should be extremely helpful in policy making and health management decisions at a nation-wide level.
