Abstract

Pregnancies with hypertensive disorders are prone to a higher risk of preterm deliveries and low birth weights compared to healthy pregnancies. [1] The risk of hypertensive disorders of pregnancy occurs mostly among mothers affected with severe chronic hypertension as well as those with superimposed preeclampsia on chronic hypertension. [2] Hypertensive disorders are common complications of pregnancy. Most adverse events like maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity are attributed directly to the preeclampsia syndrome, characterized by new-onset hypertension with proteinuria during pregnancy.
