Abstract

LSTR, also known as NIET or non-instrumental endodontic treatment, bills itself as "a new biologic technique in the treatment of carious lesions with or without pulpal and periapical involvement employing a mixture of 3 antibiotics." The Niigata University School of Dentistry's Cariology Research Unit created this idea in 1988. The LSTR technique is typically justified by using triple antibiotic paste to eradicate the microbial flora occupying the diseased pulpal cavity. Different writers have substituted the traditional addition of ciprofloxacin, metronidazole, and minocycline in a vehicle of propylene glycol and macrogol. The technique, its indications, usage, and the clinical steps needed to perform the technique are all reviewed in this article.
