Distal radius fracture accounts for 1 of every 5 fractures in individuals aged 60 or older. There is no common consensus for treatment of distal radius fractures in geriatric age group, every surgeon has his own way to provide better outcome. many factors like age of patient, injury to surgery time, joint involvement, displacement decide the type of management. conservattive treatment gives good results in typically minimally displaced and stable fractures but management of displaced and unstable fractures has remained controversial. Fuji et al (1) recommended necessity of fracture reduction in elderly population.as there exists a strong correlation between anatomical reduction and radiocarpal joint fusion. Several treatment methods are ranging from open reduction internal fixation using locking plate, close reduction with k wires, close reduction with external fixators. Percutaneous pinning is considered simple, minimally invasive technique and is aimed at preventing redisplacement and late collapse of the fragments, in which k wires are usually retained for 6 weeks
