Abstract. The article identifies the role of the service sector in the socio-economic development of the country, based on the relationship between the dynamics of development of the service sector and the increase in incomes of the population employed in it. The development of the service sector and the improvement of its sectoral structure have proven to be one of the strategic directions of increasing the income of those employed in the sector. The results of the study show that the income of employees in the service sector is significantly lower than in the material production sector, which does not meet the essence of the industry in the transition to post-industrial development, its role and importance in the national economy. based on.
