Abstract

Methicillin resistant staphylococcus aures (MRSA) has been reposted from many parts of,the, world inuding Asian countries. Hence, main objective of study was to evaluate the antibacterial effect of some medicinal plant extracts and their synergistic antibiotic and non-antibiotic drugs against methicillin resistant staphylococcus aureus. The antibacterial activities of extracts were evaluated using the disk diffusion method as well as well diffusion method; the inhibitory zones were recorded. The results of this study showed that value for each of methanolic extract of Cinnamon was 12 mm. The methanol and aquatic extract of turmeric was 11 mm and the ethanol extract of clove was 10 mm respectively. Ethanolic plant extracts were showed antimicrobial and synergistic activity with antibiotics better than methanolic and aquatic extracts. Plant extracts encompass antistaphylococcal activity and this finding demands necessity of further exploration of potential found in these natural herb.
