Abstract
Vertex epidural hematoma is a rare type of intracranial hematoma. Its source of bleeding is usually the superior sagittal sinus, not the meningeal artery, as with most epidural hematomas. It is often poorly visualized by axial computed tomography and is a diagnostic challenge. We present a case of a 49-year-old patient treated surgically for hematoma vertex. We reviewed the literature on this topic from 1971 to 2019, summarizing the treatment strategy, surgical techniques and prognosis.
