Abstract

The word LASER is an acronym for the expression “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiation.” A laser is a device that emits light through a process of optical amplification based on the stimulated emission of electromagnetic radiation.The development of lasers has been of great interest among dental practitioners and patient to use this tool to ensure the treatment easier and effective. Lasers allow the dentist to reach the sites where the conventional mechanical instruments fails. The use of laser has increased in the last decades. It has been activated at the different power setting modes, and pulse for soft and hard tissues. Use of lasers is the upcoming technology in dentistry which has multiple effects. This review discusses recent advancements in lasers.
