Abstract: Vision loss is losing one’s ability to see well without some sort of vision correction. Vision loss can happen gradually (slowly over time) or suddenly. Vision-related illnesses are investigated under the wide category of "Drushtigatarogas"(~eye sight disorders) by Acharya Sushruta, who has elucidated 76 Netravyadhi (~eye disease). Sushruta explains 12 Drushtigatroga, whereas Vagbhata explains 27. Visual disturbances are described in Ayurveda under the terms Timira (~partial blindness), Kacha (~diminished vision), and Linganasha (~cataract). A 34 years old male patient working in the bank consulted in the clinic on march-2023 with the complaints of sudden right eye vison loss since 1.5 years Patient had a history of recurrent uveitis and floaters of right eye since last 1.5 years. Probable causative factors in the patients (hetu) were over consumption of Katu (~pungent taste), Amla rasa (~sour taste) in the form of green chillies, lemon pickle, curd etc., history of alcohol intake 90 ml once a week since 10 years, screen time of 6-7 hours per day. On the basis of patient’s examination and causative factors observed, patient was treated on the lines of Urdhwagat raktapitta and Timira. Treatment given was leech therapy, Swarna sootshekhar rasa, Bolbadh rasa, Avipattikar churna, Brihat vasadi kashaya, Vasant kusumakar rasa. Patient symptoms were reduced in initial 5 days by Leech therapy and medications. Condition improved with each follow up. Addition of Rasayana Kalpa accelerated the recovery process and the patient got recovered completely within 65 days’ time. Improvement was supported by refraction and radiological findings. When analyzed a case with Ayurveda principles, examining a patient, case taking and proper diagnosis of Dosha and Dushya helps for proper and acute management of the disease. It can be concluded that the treatment modalities described in Ayurvedic text helps to prevent vision disorder and to maintain the visual acuity.
