KNOWLEDGE AND AWARENESS REGARDING BREAST FEEDING AND COVID-19 VACCINATION AMONG PREGNANT AND LACTATING MOTHERS ATTENDING OPD IN A SERVICE HOSPITAL DURING COVID-19 PANDEMIC

Aim: To assess the Knowledge and Awareness regarding Breastfeeding and COVID-19 vaccination among Pregnant and Lactating Mothers attending OPD in a Service Hospital during COVID-19 Pandemic.
Material and Methods: Hospital based cross sectional study. Sample size of 380 Pregnant and Lactating Mothers attending OPD antenatally or postnatally were included in the study. Ethics committee approval was taken. A peer reviewed predesigned questionnaire was used to obtain information after taking consent. Demographic data and Knowledge of Mothers regarding Breastfeeding and COVID-19 Vaccination data was collected and analyzed.
Results: Our Study revealed knowledge and awareness regarding Breastfeeding and COVID-19 Vaccination in Pregnant and Lactating Mothers during COVID-19 Pandemic in a Service Hospital to be 53% and 57% respectively. Our Study also found a significant correlation between Age and Education of Mothers and their Knowledge regarding Breastfeeding in Pregnant and Lactating Mothers during COVID-19 Pandemic. A significant Correlation was found between Education of Mothers and their Knowledge regarding COVID-19 Vaccine in Pregnant and Lactating Mothers during COVID-19 Pandemic.
Conclusion: This study emphasizes the need to focus on promotion of breast feeding and COVID-19 Vaccination in Pregnant and Lactating during COVID-19 Pandemic. These simple steps may contribute in lowering Neonatal and Infant Mortality rates. Breastfeeding must continue after Maternal COVID-19 vaccination

Cross-sectional study to determine the prevalence of telogen effluvium among patients experiencing COVID-19 infection or vaccination in Saudi Arabia and Arabic countries

Background: Telogen effluvium (TE) after COVID-19 infection or vaccination is a common sequelae in dermatology clinics.
Objective: to study the prevalence of telogen effluvium in COVID-19 patients and its association with COVID vaccine.
Methods: Cross-sectional study via online questionnaire in Saudi Arabia and other Arabic countries.
Results: Prevalence of hair loss among COVID-19 patients is ~85% with 45.9%  meeting the criteria of TE. Majority of those with high fever associated with COVID-19 developed TE (87.5%). 100% of hospitalized patients exhibited TE with 58% having diffuse hair loss for less than 6 months (acute TE) and 32% for more than 6 months (chronic TE). 63.2% of our participants had hair loss after COVID vaccination regardless of vaccine type with the majority experiencing it after the first dose (55.8%).
Limitations: The majority of the participants were female. Other factors associated with hair loss were taken into consideration.
Conclusions: COVID-19 infection and its vaccines carry a high risk for development of telogen effluvium.

Post obturation analgesia in patients recently vaccinated against Covid-19, after Root canal treatment: a short observational study

Aim: The aim of this study was to evaluate the need for analgesia in patients undergoing single-visit root canal treatment, within 2 days after COVID-19 immunisation.
Method: Two days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccination, 50 patients undergoing Single visit root canal treatments for acute pulpits in molar teeth were divided into two groups of 25 each (Group M for males and Group F for females). Each patient was given a prescription for 650 mg of acetaminophen (Dolo 650 mg) tablets to be taken eight hours a day, with instructions to use the same only if needed for pain. They were instructed to keep a record of the number of tablets consumed as per record sheet 1, and if the pain did not subside then a stronger analgesic, Ketorolac DT 10 mg twice a day, had to be taken and recorded.
Results: In Group M, the mean number of analgesic tablets required was 0.44±0.64 and in Group F, the mean number of analgesic tablets required was 0.80±1.09. Although the mean analgesic requirement was higher in females as compared to males, the difference of 0.80±1.09 between the two groups was not significant statistically (0.360).
Conclusion: Within the limitations of this study, it is concluded that acetaminophen is effective in relieving post-obturation pain after a single-visit RCT in patients recently vaccinated against the CoVid-19.

Knowledge, awareness and acceptance of covid-19 vaccine among general population in urban Raigarh, Chhattisgarh: A cross-sectional study

Introduction: While there are considerable enthusiasm and anticipation for the COVID-19
vaccine, little is known about vaccine hesitancy specifically for COVID-19 in the general
population. Identifying specific populations, their characteristics with regards to vaccine
knowledge, awareness & acceptance will help as key components of a successful vaccination
strategy. Hence the present study was carried out to assess the knowledge, awareness &
acceptance of COVID-19 vaccination among general population of urban Raigarh,
Chhattisgarh.
Methods: A community-based cross-sectional study was conducted among 400 participants
of urban Raigarh regarding knowledge, awareness & acceptance of COVID-19 vaccine from
April-June 2021. The methodology comprises of primary data collection through survey in a
pre-designed pre-tested proforma by face to face interview.
Results: Total 400 participants among general population who had an average age of 34.3
years ±11.8 years with slight male preponderance (53.2%). Nearly half (58.2%) of
participants were from the slum, (45.2%) came under middle socio-economic class and (49%)
were self-employed. Majority (77.25%) knew about COVID-19 vaccination programme,
while (46.75%) knew about common side effects of vaccine. More than half (54.25%) were
aware that it boost up immunity against COVID-19 infection and (77.5%) were having good
knowledge regarding COVID-19 vaccination, and (36.5%) were afraid of taking COVID-19
vaccine, while (39%) were concerned about its side effects.
Conclusion: The study identified that majority of responders were aware regarding COVID-
19 vaccine, still many have doubts & concerns about its potential efficacy and safety thereby
providing an important outlook for feasible interventional awareness programs to enhance
vaccination rates. The study also identified that the concerns regarding the vaccine adverse
effects acted as the leading barrier for vaccine acceptance.

PATTERN OF ADVERSE EFFECTS REPORTED FOLLOWING COVID-19 VACCINATION AMONG BENEFICIARIES IN GOVT. MEDICAL COLLEGE, RAIGARH, CHHATTISGARH, INDIA

While countries including India, have taken strong measures to contain the spread of Covid-19 through better diagnostics and treatment, vaccines will provide a lasting solution by enhancing immunity and containing the disease spread. Understanding the adverse effects pattern will help make aware citizens, dismiss false rumours and reduce vaccine hesitancy. Hence the present study describes the pattern of adverse effects reported following COVID-19 vaccination among beneficiaries in Government Medical College, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, India. Methods: A cross-sectional, observational study of pattern of adverse effects reported following COVID-19 vaccination was conducted among 540 beneficiaries in Government Medical College, Raigarh, Chhattisgarh, India from January 2021 to April 2021. Data was collected through online survey which included questions pertaining to immediate & late post vaccination experience. Results: Majority (33%) participants were 18-30 age group and (58%) were male. Overall (73%) respondents reported atleast one post-vaccination symptom. General weakness & tiredness (73.4%), pain at injection site (62%), bodyache (48%), chills (43%) & fever (39%) were the most prevalent symptoms. The frequency of symptoms among 18-30 age group was (85.9%) & more likely to be reported by women (83.2%) compared to men (65.1%). Around (36.9%) beneficiaries who had one or more comorbidities showed post vaccination symptoms. Around (82.1%) of Covishield beneficiaries developed atleast one or more symptoms post vaccination, while (60.3%) of Covaxin beneficiaries developed the same. Conclusion: Nearly two-thirds of study participants reported mild symptoms following vaccination. General weakness & tiredness, pain at injection site, bodyache, chills & fever were the most prevalent symptoms. Symptoms were more common among younger individuals. More Covishield beneficiaries developed atleast one or more symptoms post vaccination compared to Covaxin beneficiaries
