Air pollution linked to the raised COVID-19 death risk

In December 2019, several cases of “unknown viral pneumonia” have been reported which were initially linked to the exposure at the Huanan Seafood Market, Wuhan, China (1). In January 2020, a novel coronavirus was detected (Fig. 1), capable of infecting humans and termed COVID-19(2). By the 11th of March 2020, therewere 80,955 confirmed cases inside China and 37,367 with COVID-19 globally (3). Common symptoms of COVID-19 include dry cough, fever and fatigue. The current official incubation period of COVID-19 is between 2 and 14 days.
