Abstract

OBJECTIVE: The orbital pathologies now-a-days are rising, most of the masses affects the sensory and motor visual pathways. Early diagnosis with institution of early treatment is required to prevent patient sufferings due to vision problems or permanent vision loss. The highresolution soft tissue detail provided by magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) has allowed for better lesion characterization. Especially in cases where history and clinical evaluation are insufficient, MRI plays a crucial role. MRI is also important in the detection of the extent of orbital diseases. The aim of this study was to examine the MRI characteristics in assessing non-traumatic lesions of the orbit. orbital lesion with respect to location, intensity, enhancement characteristics, adjacent soft tissue changes and neural involvement of common and/or rare diseases arising from or extending into the orbit to aid radiologists in the correct diagnosis of orbital lesions.
