Background: Femur is richly vascularized bone deriving its arterial input from umpteen vessels. The lower end is generously supplied by the genicular arteries and is seldom more frequently subjected to ischaemic necrotic attacks. The upper end of the femurin general showed rich vascularization with the exception of the lesser trochanter.
