Background: Detrusor overactivity (DO) characterized by urgency, frequency, with or without urge incontinence occurs as manifestation of various urological disorders like over active bladder (OAB), neurogenic bladder, infection or inflammation of thelower urinary tract, resulting in adverse impact on quality of life. The antispasmodics are selected, depending on various factors like age, co-morbid conditions, tolerability and acceptability. Antimuscarinic antispasmodic agents are commonly used. With no universal consensus on antispasmodic choice, and few systemic studies reported in the Indian literature regarding pattern of antispasmodic use in bladder overactivity, comparison of their efficacy and tolerability.
